Scam Protector helps you pause and check selected warning signs in a suspicious message. It is not a guarantee that a message is safe or a substitute for contacting the organisation independently.

• what you were trying to do;
• what you expected and what happened; and
• the Scam Protector app version.

Do not email passwords, one-time codes, bank details, account numbers or unredacted personal messages. If a screenshot is essential, use a synthetic example or cover personal information first.

If a message may be a scam

• Do not use a link, phone number or payment instruction in the suspicious message.
• Contact the organisation using a number or website you already trust.
• Ask someone you trust if you are unsure.
• If money or account access may already be at risk, contact your bank or relevant provider promptly using trusted contact details.
